American Accent Development
Be Understood at Last

Yes, you can change your accent. No, you will not lose your identity. Maestro, LLC can help you to speak clear American English. No longer will Americans give you that blank look because they don't understand what you're saying. It doesn't matter what your native language is. All foreign speakers can develop an American accent. Learning to use American intonation and phrasing can go a long way toward improving your comprehensibility.

Our emphasis is on developing an American accent while respecting your native language and identity.

How long does it take?
Typically, it requires 48 hours of instruction, with at least 2 sessions per week for 2 hours each time for a total of 12 weeks. That means in only 3 months you'll be making noticeable progress in your ability to speak and be understood.

Spending an additional four months of self-study will bring long-term change.

How will I learn?
Developing an American accent can be a daunting task, But even people who have been living in the U.S. long enough to develop "bad habits" can learn. You'll start by paying attention to the way Americans speak and begin to imitate their intonation and jaw movements. Once you've developed your lip and mouth muscles, you'll work on producing sounds as Americans do. You may even need to learn new ways of breathing. It's fun! This is one skill that can be very rewarding in more ways than one.

What is the course content?
There are nine units, each focusing on a different aspect but building on each other. They include:
Jaw and lip movement
Enunciating vowels and consonants
Word and sentence stress
Phrasal stress and thought groups
Intonation
